October 1967

The late Mr. Shiro Abe (1931-1989) established this office in the name of Shiro Abe Law Office.

June 1989

The name of the office was changed to Abe, Mine & Sakata upon death of Mr. Shiro Abe.

July 1994

The name of the office was further changed to Abe & Sakata.

The wide clientele of our office includes Japan's premier shipping company Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK Line) and other companies listed in Tokyo Stock Exchange, plus the Japanese Shipowners' Associations and other non profit-making organizations; most of our work is devoted to various kinds of legal affairs of those clients. In addition, approximately half of matters currently handled by us are of international nature, with which we are dealing in liaison with international law firms in the U.K./the U.S.A., etc. where necessary.
